Dating app behemoth Tinder is looking to rekindle its relationship with swipers everywhere and plans to introduce a new feature: a show inside the app.
Tinder Swipe Night is set to debut in October and will bring a choose-your-own-adventure TV series inside the app, where your choices will lead to adding new matches to your romantic prospects.
Similar to what Netflix tried to do with Black Mirror’s Bandersnatch, Tinder Swipe Night will lead you through a story and ask you to choose what to do next.
This one features an apocalypse scenario where you have to decide in a split-second what to do with your last hours on Earth.
Depending on what you choose to do, eat and see, you’ll be sorted into new potential matches queues who took similar decisions. Even more, to give you a better opening line for a new match, the decisions will be added to your profile.
Tinder really did pull all the stops for this interactive adventure, hiring one of Drake’s music video directors, Karena Evans, to coordinate a cast featuring Angela Wong Carbone from Chinatown Horror Story, Jordan Christian Hearn from Inherent Vice and Shea Gabor.
The writing will be done by Nicole Delaney (Netflix’s Big Mouth) and Brandon Zuck (Facebook Watch’s Five Points).
The first episode of Swipe Night debuts on October 6 at 6:00 PM in the US (local time) and will be available until midnight.
Then, every Sunday there will be new content, because, as Tinder reps said, “we can’t think of a better way to break the ice than over emojis and the apocalypse.”
