Walmart just unveiled its plans to launch what the company has dubbed an Intelligent Retail Lab, inside one of its stores in Levittown, New York.
Walmart is planning to use artificial intelligence to identify when they have items that run low on stock, helping the staff identify spills and find items that have been placed on the wrong shelf.
The team currently works from Walmart’s startup incubator Store No. 8. Walmart’s warehouse club is the place where all the retail magic happens – within it, teams test new retail concepts such as mobile checkouts, inventory management camera systems, electronic shelf labels and other relevant technologies.
The Intelligent Retail Lab has not been launched yet but Walmart is already installing the software and hardware, alongside all the other necessary equipment in order to start running tests.
