By now we all know Withings smartwatches are smooth gadgets with long battery life.
At CES 2020 we got a sneak peek of the new model set to launch later this year. It comes with new features like ECG reading and monitors for potential sleep apnea.
“Eighty percent of the people with sleep apnea, don’t know they have sleep apnea,” a Withings representative noted during CES 2020. This medical condition can easily become serious and life-threatening if unaware of its existence.
Withings ScanWatch will monitor for sleep apnea using a SpO2 sensor. This measures blood oxygen saturation during sleep and the device will send you daily reports of apneic episodes to help identify any potential issues.
Like AppleWatch, the new ScanWatch gives users ECG readings using the three built-in electrodes that monitor irregular heartbeat and atrial fibrillation. Real-time readings and results are available to view in the Withings Health Mate app. All this with 30-day long battery life.
For now, Withings needs to be CE and FDA approved before ScanWatch launches, which is expected to happen in the second quarter of 2020. The two versions of ScanWatch consist in a 38mm version for $249, and a 42mm version for $299.
