HoloLamp is the answer to a simple question: can you see things in augmented reality without special gear? No glasses, no headset? The tabletop device claims to make AR real in a totally different way than Hololens #realitymagic
The lamp renders 3D images without forcing users to wear something for the whole experience. That’s because it projects 2D objects onto a given surface and works with a camera system to detect and track a viewer’s gaze. Then, it automatically adjusts the 3D projection to fit his or her perspective thanks to a connected PC.
HoloLamp founders claim that the device’s holograms can even interact with other objects, building entertaining scenarios.
HoloLamp is going to start crowdfunding in March on Kickstarter. Although it can be useful for presentations and work demos, right now HoloLamp’s technology works just for one viewer in the room. This means it won’t be able to adjust the projections for two or more people watching the “show”. The rest will only see a 2D object.
