E3 has been canceled due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, but EA has held their own EA-adjacent but separate event in previous years. Although E3 has been canceled, EA has announced they will continue their own event, EA Play.
In a twitter announcement on their official channel, EA announced it would continue EA Play this year online. It will be held on June 11th at 4pm PST. It is unclear if and how this relates to the recently announced Summer Games Fest.
Based on the time and online platform, it appears that EA Play may be limited to news and premieres similar to a Nintendo Direct. EA Play typically holds game demos, activities, and more in the spirit of “play.” It may be unable to do so this year.
More information will likely be released through their official channels.
