We’ve been hearing about flying cars and flying taxis for years now but, even though major events like Uber Elevate featured wonderful visions of the future, it’s rare to see a flying car well… actually flying.
German startup Lilium is getting ahead of the competition and provides just that: a demo with the first flight of its electric flying taxi.
Watch this five-seater flying cab equipped with 36 rotors take off and go from vertical flight to level flight, one of the key maneuvers necessary for urban air mobility projects.
The previous demo only showed the eVTOL taking off so it’s exciting to see how much progress the team achieved in just a few months!
The prototype can reach an impressive speed of 100 kmh (62 miles) but that’s just the beginning.
Lilium aims to have a range of 300 km (186 miles) and reach a top speed of 300 kmh – yes, you’d be able to travel at 186 mph over urban traffic.
