You Can Tap the Huawei x Gentle Monster Smart Glasses to Answer Calls but It Won’t Be Cheap

While most, including Intel, have long abandoned smart glasses projects, Huawei is still betting on smart eyewear with a Gentle Monster collab.

Their partner also accidentally revealed the price of the glasses through a listing, spotted by Gizmochina, which has since been taken down.

Before diving into the costs of wearing these, it’s worth mentioning that the Huawei x Gentle Monster smart glasses unveiled back at the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro launch event have one key smart feature: they’re also headphones.

A collaboration with South Korean eyewear leader Gentle Monster, Huawei’s smart glasses actually double as a headset, allowing you to pair them to your smartphone and pick up calls simply by tapping at the temple. Of course, you can also do the same gesture to access a voice assistant.

To ensure sound quality is acceptable for calls, Huawei uses AI Bluetooth noise reduction technology.

With that being said, dipping into your account for the Huawei x Gentle Monster smart glasses might smart a bit.

The glasses were listed in two models, one for 1,999 Yuan or around $210 and the other one for 2,499 Yuan or $350.

You can charge the Huawei smart glasses via USB-C or through their fashionable leather case, just like a pair of wireless earbuds.

Even though Huawei released the pricing, the Huawei x Gentle Monster collab won’t be launched until next summer. However, we do expect to see them at Huawei’s IFA 2019 booth in Berlin, so stay tuned.

If they’re there, we’ll do our best to try them on and let you know if you need to fit them in your budget.
