As we’ve recently reported, a SpaceX Falcon 9 booster will hit the lunar surface by next month. If the update got you curious, you’ll actually be able to track the rocket’s course on its way to the moon.
The impact with the Moon will most likely happen on March 4, 2022, at 12:25:39 UTC at a point on the lunar far side near the equator.
Europe’s Ariane 5 launched the James Webb Space Telescope to L2, but after dividing from Webb, the upper stage utilized all its remaining fuel to escape the Earth-Moon system completely and was put into a stable heliocentric orbit.
For those interested to track the Falcon 9 booster on its trajectory to the moon, live webcasts are offered by the Virtual Telescope Project today (Feb. 7) and tomorrow (Feb. 8) for free.
All you need to do is get online, starting at 1 p.m. EDT. Depending on weather conditions, the schedule may suffer changes.
