As part of a bigger push for privacy, Google announced at the I/O keynote a welcome update for Google Maps.
Making privacy advocates and sneaky people alike rejoice, Google Maps Incognito Mode is a feature that lets users hide their location and motions from Google.
With Incognito Mode on, Google Maps users will be able to search for locations or navigate without that information being stored in their Google Account.
The only thing that remains hidden is the launch date for Google Maps Incognito Mode but Google promises that it’s coming “soon.”
This is certainly a welcome feature, especially since Google, Facebook and other tech giants have been continually tormented by privacy scandals in the past two years.
Just recently, the company also announced the ability to auto-delete your Location History.
It seems that those multiple GDPR complaints against Google’s Location Tracking finally spurred the company into action, if not for their users’ rights sake, at least out of fear of huge fines.
